Jefferson County Fire Rescue serves the citizens of Jefferson County by providing emergency response to fires as well as basic and advanced life support treatment and transport. We provide the primary fire suppression and emergency medical treatment and transport for all incorporated and unincorporated areas of Jefferson County.

Fire Response Team

We have 1 paid station with 18 full-time positions and 15 part-time positions, 1 chief position and 1 office/billing position. All full-time and part-time employees are dual certified as either Firefighter II/Paramedic or Firefighter II/EMT. We have 30 volunteer firefighters in our community. They respond from one of four volunteer stations, one in the City of Monticello and three in the County.

Employment Opportunities

We periodically have vacancies for Firefighter Paramedics and EMTs. We generally hire our full-time employees from our part-time roster. You may file an application with us at any time. We will keep the application on file until we do the next hiring for our part-time roster. Below are the requirements for each position: Full or part-time Firefighter/Paramedic - Current Certification by the State of Florida as a Paramedic. Current ACLS card by the American Heart Association, American Red Cross or American Safety and Health Institute. Valid CPR card.  Firefighter II Certificate of Compliance from the Florida Bureau of Fire Standards and Training. Valid class "E" Florida driver's license and documentation of completing a 16 hour EVOC class. (Copies required at time of application) You must be able to pass background, physical and drug screenings. Full or part-time Firefighter/EMT - Current Certification by the State of FL as an EMT.
